Episode Two.Four

It's a sweeps-worthy episode as Ravi and Sonia prototype the Sonia Cam, leaving Ravi free for a veritable DriveTime SpaceWalk. As if that weren't enough, long-time DriveTime telephone correspondent John Carrera from Quercus Press makes his corporeal debut in anticipation of the end of his decade long Pictorial Webster's project (and the end of his beard).

Update:
Some loyal DriveTime viewers have expressed some difficulty in finding out the details of Johnny's big October 7th event. Read his official press release for details and here's a link for directions to the studio. Tell Johnny that DriveTime sent you!

Tarey -- are you a certifiable "first time-long time"? I have to admit, my beard has resprouted, mostly due to the fact that I'm juggling far too much at the moment... and the beard reinforces that to me? Or something like that.

That set of Century Dictionaries sounds pretty nifty. Come on out to Johnny's! (of course, you could be in Australia for all I know).

Sonia Cam brings so much to Drive Time, I can't imagine going back. Of course, that leaves less time for Sonia to talk, so you'll have to hire on a crew to work the Sonia Cam. Or, maybe your guests could work Sonia Cam during their rides?

Anyway, I enjoyed the b reel and the editing was excellent but I will be staying away from beards for a while.

Loved the SoniaCam and the Spacewalk.
Could this be perhaps The Best DriveTime...Ever?

ps. So, where's the party that was mentioned? :)

ROFL
John is quite the character isn't he? LOL I think he has a beard complex or something. ;)

Great show! I need to watch it again. I'm at work so I had to get up a few times and do things and missed a bit but I loved seeing Sonia cam. :D

Keep it up!

Great drivetime. Sonia cam is indeed fantastic, but surely it must make editing twice as hard having to sync up the shots...

Nice work.

I hate to walk against the tide, but I didn't get into this episode as much as others. The new SoniaCam seems to have diluted the show's chemistry...
Of course, this may be remedied when there is a more elaborate anchor for the camera. :P

The SoniaCam definitely gives the show a fresh new perspective, but having her hold the camera the whole show seems to detract from her experience, thereby detracting from ours. Perhaps a compromise could be reached in a camera mounted inside/outside the car, viewing the action?
I know it's not as dynamic as what you've set up, but at least it wouldn't take away from the Ravi-Sonia experience we've come to know and love.

ravi,
this sonar camera technology is just the thing we need to defeat the terrorists once and for all.
good work.

Maybe one of the guest duties can be to hold the camera so Sonia can better interact with the going ons. But you can still keep the "Sonia Cam" name cause it rocks. Or just add a guest cam. (Too many cams maybe)

how 'bout ravi cam instead? more sonia talking less ravi. did i say that out loud?

Ehh, I think the RaviCam would be pushing it. Holding a camera is a bit dangerous while driving. :P

it's the 21st centry, there's nothing stopping sonia from driving is there, grend?

Thanks all for the feedback on Sonia Cam. Again, this is a prototype, so the next iteration will be more of a head/helmet mounted variety that will enable Sonia to be engaged fully in the guest experience AND provide her unique point of view.

The "guest cam" idea has definitely floated around my head... guest cam + sonia cam + ravi cam = crashing of the Jamaicaway!

Rest assured that Sonia driving is in the plans but we're waiting for the right moment (just like those "Lost" folks waiting to reveal the truth about those creepy Others!) Rest assured that moment will be in a sweeps month!

Speaking of which, don't forget to send in any fawning well wishes for the DriveTime anniversary special!
