please stand by."
Urgh! I'm not sure what the heck is going on with episode three -- doesn't seem to even want to load in Safari (?).
Hmmm... I might have to re-run the whole output process tonight (Final Cut --> QT Pro --> FTP to archive.org).
If *anyone* is able to get the episode to download/play, let me know! Thanks.

I was able to view Episode Three this morning on a Mac running Tiger and Safari 2.0.1. It did seem to have to dowload the entire file before it would start playing, but it did eventually play.
Keep up the good work - I'm enjoying your show!
Thanks for the user testing from the outside world, Michael (and the detailed system specs).
I'm a bit stumped why the fast-start isn't working properly. The *only* difference in my process was I wound up using Fetch to FTP instead of Transmit (because my trial period had ended with Transmit and my budget consists of spare change!)
So maybe I'll purchase the shareware license to Transmit, re-encode the whole thing and upload again. Then at least I'll know that I've replicated everything on my end.
You're welcome, Ravi. Good luck!
clicked. Played. (in Firefox)
took some time to download though..
Aju.
Thanks Aju!
Excuse me for being heterosexual, but your wife is HOT. You should have her on every episode. : )
It works OK here (XP, FireFox) - no fast start, though.
Nice episode.
I'm definitely going to try to re-encode this tonight (the heck with those trick or treaters -- I've got work to do!)
Maybe there's something strange with how the data rate is being limited...
Actually, this whole episode has been fraught with strange issues. There was some strange digital banding/tutti-frutti stuff on the tape; Final Cut was acting up.
Bad Juju overall.
Thanks all for reporting on the performance -- it helps in working this out.
I'm hoping that episode 3 will download soon. I love the concept here and, after watching anothre episode or two, might be calling you up for a guest spot or two ... now I just need to find something to talk about. Need anything in particular?
Downloaded the episode (slow rates at ~16k/s) and it refused to play in Quicktime Player (XP, newest QT) giving me the error "-2048: the file is not a movie file". Seems to be playing fine in VLC though.
Technical problems aside, nice idea and a nice little show. Keep it up.
Worked fine for me -- just like the first two -- clicked and it played with osx (10.2.9) and Firefox. Quite entertaining (I live in Cambridge), I'll stay tuned.
rauz, it should work better now after the re-encoding/re-upload.
sean, thanks for the testing specs!
i'm still downloading episode two!!! why does it take so long??? I've got a fast connection, mac tiger and safari.....
Downloaded and viewed it yesterday, minutes after your posted it. Keep up the good work.

anonymous,
you're having slowness with episode two? not three?
it's the bloatiest episode, so that doesn't help. i'm continually trying to make them leaner and meaner!
ok, i'll step out of anonimity... I downloaded three as well, but they do take a long time... If I were you i would cut the conversations in shorter pieces with more pauses in between (like the one in episode one with the pneumatic drill). It is difficult to maintain the span of attention when somebody talks a long time about something they like or are heavily involved in (of course, so would I). I am looking forward to your first ride with a total stranger...
