Ravi pays honor to Torino in a
DriveTime Olympic Moment before he and Sonia welcome John Sullivan from the band
James The Viking. Ravi whips out the air guitar to accompany the opening track from their new CD.
And a surprising -- yet familiar -- "bonus guest" pops in for the coda.

Very nice episode and Guest
Ok Ravi. I'm convinced -- DriveTime needs a rockin' theme song. The great outro did it for me.
Very entertaining episode.
I was hoping for more air guitar...
Enjoyed the fade in/out to/from black, especially the empty car shot.
If episodes keep going in this direction you won't even have to drive guests around anymore...
Pick them up, say hi, complement their hair, and drop them off a block away. ;-)
First out of the gate and it's anonymous!
katwalla -- I'm definitely still thinking of theme song, logo, opener, etc... maybe during our next hiatus I'll get some of that together!
steve -- I dole out my air guitar in tantalizing morsels. Did this episode seem like we were going in circles? (conceptually and/or geographically?) We actually did transport our flaxen-locked guest on our commute...
You've got a happy problem where the host and co-host are as interesting, if not more interesting than the guests sometimes.
I've been asking for more Ravi and Sonia and when I get it, I want more guest. ;-)
Here's my quick recap of the show....
---
Sonia: "Ravi did a bobsled entry to the car"
Ravi: His name is Johnn Sullivan
He is the guitarist.
They have a new CD.
Do you want to tell us about the band? Should we play a track? I liked the opening track...
[ Listen to song ]
Ravi: Semms like it's perfect for a lead track.
Johnny: Perfect
Ravi: Are you Tallest
Johnny: I always play shoeless. I am growing a mop for winter.
Ravi: I said sheepish. You were hanging out. You...
Johnny: Theory on DriveTime - Reverse cellphone theory. Sweet!
Band website: jamestheviking.com
Ravi: Thanks for sharing this DriveTime with us...
Ravi brings Sonia lunch...
---
So although I enjoyed all the Ravi and Sonia parts, I didn't get enough Johnny parts.
Maybe you can ask:
"Tell us about the band?"
... and then stop talking so the guest can get a few word in edgewise.
Also, it sounds like you did a lot of research prior to the interview, but it would be better if we heard from the the guest.
What type of music do they play?
What type of influences do they have?
How do they record their CD's? In a real studio? At home?
You get the idea...
Steve -- the quest for the perfect balance between banter and guest will be the metaphorical fusion-generator that propels DriveTime through the inky cyberspace!
Thanks for the thorough episode analysis... I'm already anticipating the "not enough Ravi and Sonia" critique for episode 18! ;-)
There's not enough Sonia in these comments. ;-)
Perhaps she's my ghost-writer?!
FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC !!!
Curling with a chicken???? Have you never seen W.K.R.P.
Poultry (frozen or not) and moving vehicles do not go well together.
DON"T DO IT MAN!
I'm a long time watcher, but 1st time writer to you. Just watched Episode 17 and I think you should use "James the Vikings" song as you theme song or at least play it at the end of every episopde. It really added/ended to the segment.
MikeB Lynn, MA
brian -- thanks for modifying your blue language for our family audience!
barrington -- I have to admit, even a '70s sitcom scholar like myself wasn't sure what the heck you were talking about. But a few google searches later, I was able to get some dirt on the "Turkeys Away" WKRP episode... Wasn't there some opening sequence of some '90s show that had bowling with a frozen turkey? "Life Goes On" or something...
MikeB -- as we say in this neck of the woods, "First time, long time"! Thanks for the feedback -- some pedal to the medal rockin' music does make the blood flow. Now you'll be like me when you drive, incessantly breaking out into "Dee dee deedeedeedeee dee deedeedeedeedee deedee"
it seems you guys have lost your spot as the number one search result for "drivetime" on google!
Ravi & Sonia,
Just wanted to drop a line and let you know I found you on iTunes last week and have been hooked ever since. I have managed to watch every episode and laugh all the way through.
Thanks for providing great entertainment and information about Boston.
I'm thinking that maybe you should do a drive time special in other cities, which maybe hard, but would be very interesting to say the least.
marc -- google schmoogle! Actually, I don't know if we ever had that top spot...
welcome aboard anonymous -- DriveTime in other cities. Sounds like the perfect basis for a fat grant!

hey editengine! I think I've gotten my curling fix... yesterday they had a three-hour match on TV that was two days old. Hmmm... three hours, two days old. Didn't do it for me.
dave -- I'm super duper happy that you've check us out! ;-) Welcome aboard.
